Job Description:
A Trainee Quality Engineer in the railway wheel industry is an entry-level position focused on ensuring that forged/cast railway wheels meet stringent safety, metallurgical, and dimensional standards. They assist senior engineers in inspection, testing, and process control to maintain quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspections: Conduct raw material, in-process, and final inspection of railway wheels.
- Testing: Assist with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) like Ultrasonic testing or Magnetic Particle Inspection to detect flaws.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspection reports, quality documents, and test results.
- Quality Control: Identify and document product defects, managing non-conforming products (rejected materials).
- Production Collaboration: Work with shop floor production teams to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support: Assist in quality audits, calibration of measuring instruments, and root cause analysis of quality issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
