Job Description:

Job Title: Plant HR Manager

Location: Sanand, Gujarat
Reporting To:  HR Head

Job Purpose

The Plant HR Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end Human Resources operations for the manufacturing plant, with a strong focus on Industrial Relations, statutory compliances, blue-collar workforce management, and employee lifecycle activities. The role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth plant operations through robust people practices, discipline, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations & Employee Relations

  • Lead Industrial Relations (IR) at the plant level to ensure harmonious relations with workmen
  • Handle disciplinary issues, misconduct cases, domestic enquiries, and grievance redressal
  • Liaise with labor authorities, unions (if applicable), and external stakeholders
  • Ensure peaceful plant operations with minimum disruptions

Statutory Compliance & Labor Laws

  • Ensure full compliance with Factories Act, CLRA, Shops & Establishments, PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus, Minimum Wages, Standing Orders, and other applicable labor laws
  • Manage inspections, audits, notices, and returns related to statutory bodies
  • Maintain all statutory registers, records, and documentation

Time Office & Workforce Management

  • Oversee Time Office operations, including:
    • Attendance management
    • Shift scheduling
    • Overtime tracking
    • Leave management
  • Ensure accurate data flow for payroll processing
  • Coordinate with payroll vendors / corporate HR teams

Recruitment & Manpower Planning

  • Manage blue-collar recruitment including operators, technicians, helpers, and contract workforce
  • Support white-collar hiring for plant roles as required
  • Coordinate with contractors for contract labor deployment and compliance
  • Support manpower planning in line with production requirements

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Manage complete worker lifecycle activities:
    • Joining & induction
    • Confirmation
    • Transfers
    • Promotions
    • Exits, resignations, and settlements
  • Ensure proper documentation and HR records management

Plant HR Initiatives & Engagement

  • Lead plant-level HR initiatives related to:
    • Employee engagement
    • Welfare activities
    • Health & safety awareness programs
    • Training coordination
  • Drive initiatives to improve attendance, productivity, and morale
  • Implement corporate HR policies at plant level

Worker Welfare & Administration

  • Manage worker welfare facilities such as canteen, transport, PPE, medical, and statutory amenities
  • Address employee concerns proactively and ensure timely resolution
  • Support safety, housekeeping, and discipline initiatives in coordination with plant leadership

Education & Experience

  • Qualification:
    • MBA (HR) / MSW / MLW (mandatory)
  • Experience:
    • Significant experience as Plant HR / Factory HR in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong exposure to IR, labor compliances, and blue-collar workforce management
    • Experience in handling large workforce (permanent + contract) preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliances

  • Ability to manage shop-floor workforce and sensitive situations
