Job Description:
A Shift Incharge for Raw Material Processing supervises the entire raw material handling and processing during a shift, ensuring production targets, quality (color, grade, specs), and safety (SOPs, PPE, LOTO) are met by leading a team, troubleshooting issues, managing material flow (FIFO), maintaining records, and coordinating with quality/maintenance to achieve operational efficiency and minimize waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Oversee raw material preparation, mixing, feeding, and processing (e.g., drying, extruding) to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate operators, resolve personnel issues, and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols (PPE, LOTO) and SOPs.
- Quality Control: Monitor product parameters (color, weight, specs), conduct checks, document QC samples, and coordinate with the quality team for compliance.
- Process & Equipment: Troubleshoot process deviations, monitor machinery (dryers, pumps, utilities), minimize downtime, and ensure efficient use of raw materials.
- Material Handling: Manage material flow, maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out), control inventory, and suggest ways to use dead stock.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare shift reports, document incidents, and communicate effectively with superiors and other departments (maintenance, PPC, logistics) for continuity.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles to enhance productivity and reduce scrap.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and safety regulations (SOPs, LOTO).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team coordination.
- Experience in supervising production teams in manufacturing/chemical/steel industries.
- Familiarity with reporting software and data analysis.
