Job Description:
In the corrugation industry, a Quality Assistant Manager or Deputy Manager ensures that corrugated boxes and packaging materials meet stringent durability and safety standards. While a Deputy Manager typically holds a higher rank and acts as a direct backup to the Manager, an Assistant Manager focuses on executing daily operational quality tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Control (QC) Oversight: Conduct rigorous inspections and audits of raw materials (kraft paper, adhesives), in-process production (corrugation, glueing), and finished goods.
- System Compliance: Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001 and FSSC to ensure regulatory and industry compliance.
- Testing & Analysis: Perform and document specific tests like Bursting Strength (BS), Compression Strength (CS), and Ring Crush Test (RCT) to verify structural integrity.
- Root Cause Analysis (CAPA): Investigate customer complaints and production defects to suggest Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with production teams to reduce waste, improve machine efficiency, and enhance overall product quality through Six Sigma or 7QC tools.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the QC team and conduct training on best practices and safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial, or Packaging Engineering is preferred.
- Experience: Typically requires 5–10 years of experience specifically in a corrugated box manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with design and management tools like ArtiosCAD or SAP for quality modules.
- Certifications: Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or VDA 6.3 standards is a significant advantage.
