Process design engineer

Job Description:

📌 Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Design

• Develop water and wastewater treatment process designs using engineering principles (e.g., biological, chemical, physical treatment methods).

• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass/energy balances, and equipment sizing.

• Select appropriate treatment technologies (e.g., STP/ETP/WTP, MBR, MBBR, RO, UF, ZLD, filters, ion exchange).

• Perform process calculations (hydraulics, influent/effluent load, chemical dosing needs).

Documentation & Reports

• Prepare technical design reports, datasheets, process descriptions, and specification documents.

• Ensure design documentation meets regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

Project & Team Collaboration

• Work with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.

• Support tender/proposal preparation, client technical reviews, and design handover to execution teams.

Execution Support

• Participate in design reviews and hazard studies (e.g., HAZOP).

• Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and start-up as needed.

• Troubleshoot process issues and recommend optimization strategies.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment principles and technologies.

• Proficiency with process design tools and documentation (PFD, P&ID, mass balance).

• Ability to perform process calculations and equipment sizing.

• Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory norms, and environmental guidelines.

Soft Skills

• Effective communication (technical writing and client interaction).

• Teamwork and cross-disciplinary coordination.
