Job Description:
A Senior Civil Engineer in a steel manufacturing company manages the design, construction, maintenance, and structural integrity of plant infrastructure, including foundations for heavy machinery, steel structures, and industrial buildings. Key responsibilities include overseeing site execution, ensuring compliance with safety/industry codes, and managing contractor performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design & Planning: Prepare and review design calculations, structural drawings, load data sheets, and material take-offs for civil and structural projects.
- Project Management & Execution: Supervise construction, erection, and commissioning, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Maintenance: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of plant civil structures, including foundations for heavy equipment.
- Quality & Safety Control: Oversee civil material testing, quality control (QA/QC), and ensure adherence to safety standards and industrial codes (e.g., IS, ACI).
- Technical Coordination: Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical) and external contractors to resolve design issues on-site.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: 5–10 years in design and site execution within an industrial/steel plant environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, structural analysis software, and reinforced concrete (RCC)/steel design.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to manage projects under high-pressure conditions.
Desired Attributes
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering codes and standards.
- Experience in structural steel detailing and fabrication.
- Excellent communication skills for managing contractors and reporting to senior management.
