Job Description:
A Tipper Driver (Dump Truck Operator) safely operates heavy vehicles with tipping mechanisms to transport and deliver bulk materials like sand, gravel, or debris to construction and mining sites. Responsibilities include performing daily vehicle inspections, managing loading/unloading, complying with traffic/safety regulations, and keeping accurate logs.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Vehicle Operation: Driving large tipper trucks on-road and in rugged, off-road, or mining environments.
- Loading/Unloading: Safely operating the tipping mechanism to discharge materials at designated spots and ensuring even load distribution.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Performing daily pre- and post-trip safety checks (brakes, tires, lights) and routine maintenance.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhering to all traffic laws, company policies, and health and safety (OH&S) guidelines.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs, including delivery notes, hours of service, and material records.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class A, B, or equivalent), often with specific endorsements.
- Experience: Previous experience (5-6 years) operating heavy machinery or tipper trucks is typically required.
- Skills: Strong reversing, maneuvering, and spatial awareness skills; basic mechanical knowledge.
- Physical Ability: Ability to perform manual checks, climb into cabs, and work in varied weather conditions.
Key Working Conditions:
- Often involves construction, mining, or quarrying environments.
- Requires alertness to site hazards and effective communication with dispatchers and site crew.
