HEAD QC FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - DURG , CHHATTISGARH
Job Description:
- Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and monitor QMS protocols to ensure consistent quality in steel production.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee daily testing activities in the laboratory, furnace, CCM, and rolling mill sections.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure full compliance with relevant industry standards such as API 5L, API 5CT, and ISO 9001.
- Testing and Inspection: Manage Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), heat treatment inspections, and physical/chemical testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate product failures, non-conformances, and customer complaints to develop corrective action plans (CAPA).
- Leadership: Train, mentor, and lead the quality assurance team.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in quality assurance within the steel industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, casting, and metallurgical properties.
- Tools: Expertise in Statistical Process Control (SPC), NDT techniques, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities

Company Profile
The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
