MANAGER CCM FOR REFRACTORY PRODUCT MANUFACTURING -ROURKELA , DURGAPUR , ODISHA
Job Description:
A Manager of Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) operations within a refractory product manufacturing company or a steel plant (where refractory products are heavily utilized) is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality casting of liquid metal into billets, slabs, or blooms.
Based on industry standards, this role bridges production efficiency with material science, requiring in-depth knowledge of how refractory linings (moulds, tundish) interact with molten metal.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Supervise end-to-end casting operations, including monitoring parameters (temperature, speed), managing start-up/shutdown, and ensuring smooth sequence casting.
- Refractory Performance Management: Monitor, select, and optimize refractory materials (lining, tundish, ladle) to ensure maximum life, lower wear rates, and cost-per-ton optimization.
- Quality & Safety Control: Implement SOPs, analyze defects (RCA - Root Cause Analysis), and maintain metallurgical standards, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001.
- Maintenance & Technical Support: Oversee predictive and preventive maintenance of CCM equipment, coordinating with mechanical/electrical teams to minimize downtime.
- Process Improvement & Cost Optimization: Drive initiatives to reduce energy consumption, maximize yield, and optimize refractory usage.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and manage shift teams, fostering a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Ceramic Engineering.
- Experience: 10–15 years in a steel plant or refractory manufacturing environment, with significant experience in CCM operations.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of refractory-slag-metal interactions, wear mechanisms, and casting technologies.
- Skills: Proficiency in SAP (PM/MM), data analysis for troubleshooting, and strong leadership abilities.
Target Candidates Profile
- Experience: 12+ years in CCM, Refractory Application Engineering, or Steel Melting Shop (SMS).
- Core Competencies: Strong technical expertise in refractory design, installation, and performance analysis.
