Job Description:

Job Summary


The Pattern Shop Manager is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing all activities related to the manufacturing, maintenance, and storage of patterns used in casting and foundry operations. The role ensures high-quality pattern production, efficient workflow, and coordination with production, design, and quality teams.


Key Responsibilities


Manage daily operations of the pattern shop including pattern manufacturing, repair, and modification.
Supervise and guide pattern makers, carpenters, machinists, and technicians.
Ensure patterns are produced according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with design, production, and foundry departments to meet production schedules.
Maintain pattern inventory, storage, and identification systems.
Inspect patterns for accuracy, dimensional tolerance, and quality standards.
Plan and monitor preventive maintenance and repairs of patterns and pattern equipment.
Implement cost control and material utilization strategies.
Ensure workplace safety, housekeeping, and compliance with company policies.
Train and develop staff on pattern making techniques and best practices.
Maintain documentation related to pattern development, modifications, and usage history.


Required Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, Pattern Making, or related field.
8–15 years of experience in pattern shop / foundry / casting industry, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory role.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of pattern making, casting processes, and tooling.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD designs.
Experience with wood, metal, plastic, and resin patterns.
Leadership and team management skills.
Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of quality control and dimensional inspection.
Familiarity with CNC machining or modern pattern making technologies is an advantage.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a pattern shop or foundry environment.
Requires supervision of shop floor activities and coordination with multiple departments.
