Job Description:
An IT Officer for Hardware and Networking maintains an organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, computers, and network devices. Key tasks involve installing systems, ensuring network security/availability, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and providing user support. They often maintain LAN/WAN, firewalls, and data backups to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and upgrading desktop systems, servers, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Networking Administration: Managing LAN/WAN, switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure stable connectivity.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware and network faults promptly.
- Security & Compliance: Implementing security protocols, managing firewalls, and ensuring data protection.
- Support & Documentation: Providing technical support to staff, documenting network configurations, and maintaining inventory.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in TCP/IP, network protocols, VLANs, and firewall configuration.
- Hardware Expertise: Ability to repair and maintain computer components and peripheral devices.
- Experience: Generally requires 1–5+ years of experience in IT support or network administration.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant IT certifications.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
