VMC Operator

Job Description:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines to manufacture precision mechanical components.

• Perform machine setup, tool loading, fixture setup, and offset adjustments for production runs.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and machining instructions.

• Monitor machining operations to ensure accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerance.

• Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

• Maintain production records and machine parameter documentation.

• Identify and report machine malfunctions, tool wear, or quality issues to the supervisor.

• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure cleanliness of the work area.

• Follow company safety guidelines and quality standards during operations.

• Coordinate with the quality control and production teams to meet daily production targets.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in VMC machine operation.

• Ability to read technical drawings and understand machining tolerances.

• Knowledge of cutting tools, fixtures, and tool offset adjustments.

• Basic understanding of CNC programming (G-code / M-code) is an advantage.

• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

• Strong attention to accuracy, quality, and detail.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with shift operations.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Machinist / CNC Operator or equivalent technical qualification.
