Surface grinding operator (Conventional)

Job Description:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate conventional surface grinding machines to grind and finish metal components to precise dimensions.

• Perform machine setup, wheel mounting, and alignment before grinding operations.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

• Ensure accurate surface finish, flatness, and dimensional tolerance of machined parts.

• Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges.

• Monitor grinding operations to maintain quality and consistency of finished parts.

• Perform dressing of grinding wheels and maintain proper grinding parameters.

• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of grinding machines and work area.

• Follow safety procedures and quality standards during operations.

• Coordinate with production and quality teams to meet daily production targets.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in conventional surface grinding operations.

• Ability to read technical drawings and understand tolerances.

• Knowledge of grinding wheels, dressing techniques, and surface finishing.

• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing or tool room environment.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Machinist / Turner or equivalent technical qualification.
