Job Description:

Position             : Shift Engineer

Department        : Injection Moulding

Salary budget      : 4.00 – 6.00 LPA

Experience           : 3–4 years

Location               : Vadodara (Bhayli)

The candidate should have strong knowledge of the injection moulding process with (3–4) years of relevant experience.

Job Description:

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales/dispatch targets.
• Ensure efficient machine scheduling to minimize idle time and maximize utilization.
• Coordinate with planning and supply chain teams for RM/consumables availability.

2. Shift & Team Management

• Supervise and lead production team across shifts (operators, setters, helpers).
• Allocate manpower and ensure proper shift handover.
• Monitor operator performance and address any issues related to absenteeism, skill gaps, or behaviour.

3. Quality Assurance

• Ensure production meets quality standards/specifications.
• Work closely with QA/QC team to resolve in-process and final inspection issues.
• Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring defects (like flash, short shot, sink marks, etc.).

4. Efficiency & Productivity

• Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and improve cycle time, rejection rate, and downtime.
• Initiate and lead Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Track KPI metrics such as production output, scrap rate, machine uptime, etc.

5. Tooling & Mold Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate with the tooling/maintenance team for timely mould changeovers, preventive maintenance, and breakdown resolution.
• Maintain mould changeover time within target limits (SMED principles if applicable).

6. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain daily production reports, downtime records, rejection reports, etc.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/TS/IATF or customer-specific documentation requirements.
• Conduct audits and reviews for internal and external parties.

7. Machine & Utility Monitoring

• Monitor machine health (hydraulic pressure, temperature control, etc.).
• Liaise with maintenance for upkeep of utilities like air compressors, chillers, MTCs, etc.

8. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure adherence to all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards on the shop floor.
• Promote safety awareness and conduct toolbox talks/training.
• Maintain cleanliness as per 5S guidelines.

9. Cross-functional Coordination

• Liaise with design, QA, maintenance, stores, purchase, and customer service teams.
• Attend daily review meetings and report production status and issues.

10. Continuous Improvement & Cost Control

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process optimization and material usage.
• Drive productivity improvement initiatives (cycle time, manpower efficiency).
