Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities of Fitouts Safety Sr Officer.
✓ Develop Safety Criteria for tenants along best international practices in industry.
✓ Develop safety related processes,
✓ Help appoint & impart training to Jr Safety Officer and execute-safety.
✓ Ensuring adherence of processes as per the safety manuals, and compliance to all relevant local statutory approvals

1. Site Inspection & Hazard Control
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of tenant fit-out sites to identify and eliminate hazards (e.g., faulty wiring, improper storage, unsafe, or disorganized construction zones).
• Monitor and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers.
• Identify and manage high-risk activities, such as working at heights, electrical work, and fire hazards.

2. Compliance & Regulations
• Ensure all fit-out activities comply with local building codes, statutory requirements, and company safety policies.
• Review contractor safety plans, Risk Assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) before work commences.
• Ensure contractors have valid permits to work, especially for hot work (welding) or electrical connections.

3. Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness
• Monitor fire safety systems (sprinklers, extinguishers) within the construction zone.
• Ensure that emergency exits, fire hoses, and escape routes are not blocked by construction materials.
• Coordinate with the mall's Fire Control Room (FCR) regarding any high-risk tasks that might trigger alarms.

4. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and near-misses.
• Prepare and submit daily or weekly safety reports to mall management.

5. Training & Coordination
• Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks for contractors and their workers.
• Stop unsafe acts or processes immediately, even if it causes a delay in construction.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop fitout & safety team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Reporting to the Founder & Co Founders and working closely with client team

Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in construction safety, specifically with interior fit-outs or retail, commercial, or mall projects.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering, or a related field and mandatory a diploma in Health and Safety.
• Certifications: NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or local certifications (e.g., State Safety Board certification).
• Skills: Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

This project duration is 18-24 months and after this the employee may be posted at any other site as will be available.
