Job Description:
A Production Engineer Planning for a Fabrication Plant develops, schedules, and manages manufacturing operations to optimize productivity, cost-efficiency, and on-time delivery. Key responsibilities include creating production schedules, managing inventory, optimizing resource utilization, implementing quality control, and reducing bottlenecks in fabrication workflows.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Create detailed production schedules, work orders, and manufacturing sequences to meet demand and delivery targets.
- Fabrication Process Optimization: Analyze production workflows to reduce downtime, enhance productivity, and implement improvements.
- Resource Optimization: Efficiently allocate labor, materials, and machinery for optimal utilization.
- Coordination and Liaison: Act as a bridge between design, procurement, and shop floor teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Quality & Efficiency Control: Set up quality protocols, conduct process studies (time/motion), and troubleshoot fabrication defects.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain, track, and report on production data, KPIs, and inventory levels.
- Tooling and Equipment Planning: Determine tooling requirements, design fixtures, and coordinate machine maintenance to prevent disruptions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fabrication processes (welding, cutting, assembly), welding codes (e.g., AWS, ASME), and reading engineering drawings.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), CAD software, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, identify bottlenecks, and solve problems.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
