Job Summary
The Assistant Manager Quality will oversee the Quality Assurance and Control functions for the machine shop, focusing on in-process quality, dimensional accuracy (CMM), and system compliance (IATF 16949). The role involves leading a team of inspectors, reducing rejection rates, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- CMM Programming & Dimensional Inspection: Develop, operate, and troubleshoot programs on CMM (ZEISS) using PC-DMIS or CALYPSO software for complex machined components.
- Process Quality Control: Oversee in-process inspection and patrol inspection on the machine shop floor to ensure adherence to control plans.
- Customer Complaint Handling: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for customer complaints using 8D methodology, 5 Why, and Ishikawa tools to implement CAPA.
- System Compliance (QMS): Maintain IATF 16949:2018/ISO 9001:2015 standards and conduct internal audits.
- Documentation & PPAP: Prepare PPAP documentation for new products and engineering changes.
- Supplier Quality: Coordinate with suppliers to improve incoming material quality and conduct supplier audits.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive Kaizen and Poka-Yoke projects to reduce rejections (PPM reduction) and improve process capability (Cp/Cpk).
- Manpower Management: Manage, train, and mentor quality technicians and inspectors to enhance their skills in measuring instruments and GD&T.
- Calibration: Ensure timely calibration of measuring instruments and gages (Micrometers, Verniers, Height Gauges).
Candidate Profile
- Qualification: Diploma or B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
- Experience: 10-15 years in quality assurance within a high-precision machining environment (CNC/VMC shop).
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in CMM Programming and Operation (CALYPSO/PC-DMIS).
- Proficiency in reading Engineering Drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA.
- Soft Skills: Leadership qualities, analytical skills, good English communication, and ability to handle pressure.
