Sr. Project Director
Job Description:
The Project Director is a key leader within Project Management Office (PMO) working with team members to ensure consistent, scalable, and high-quality delivery of customer projects across the organization. This role provides leadership to the Project Management team and serves as oversight to ensure governance, execution discipline, and project performance.
The Project Director, in collaboration with the Executive team will establish and mature PMO frameworks, standards, and operating rhythms, while also directly overseeing a limited number of high-impact customer project initiatives. This role works closely with Product, Engineering, QA, Service Delivery, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to ensure that delivery execution is tightly aligned with business priorities and customer expectations.
This is a leadership role that blends strategic PMO engagement with operational execution, ideal for someone who can build strong delivery systems while also stepping in to resolve complex delivery challenges when required.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Governance
· Collaborate in establishing PMO strategy, operating model, and maturity roadmap aligned with Client's’s global functional organization.
· Define and enforce standardized project lifecycle processes, templates, reporting mechanisms, and governance checkpoints.
· Establish consistent project health tracking across all delivery programs, including scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, and resourcing.
· Conduct regular project reviews and health checks to identify systemic risks and execution gaps.
· Ensure consistent documentation, audit readiness, and knowledge management across project teams.
· Drive continuous improvement of delivery methodologies, tools, and workflows.
People Leadership & Capability Building
· Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers across levels to improve delivery quality, customer engagement, and execution consistency.
· Set performance expectations, goals, and development plans for PMO team members.
· Partner with HR and Delivery leadership on capacity planning, skill development, and succession planning for the PMO function.
· Build bench strength and reduce delivery dependency on individual contributors.
Strategic Project & Program Oversight
· Provide oversight and executive-level governance for major customer programs, regulatory initiatives, or platform transformation efforts.
· Directly manage a limited number of strategic or high-risk projects where senior ownership is required.
· Intervene in escalated projects to stabilize delivery, realign stakeholders, and restore execution momentum.
· Ensure strong transition practices between Implementation, Service Delivery, and Customer Success functions.
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
· Serve as the primary escalation point for delivery-related risks, delays, and cross-functional dependencies.
· Partner closely with CDO, COO, Product Leadership, and Engineering Leadership to align delivery execution with roadmap priorities.
· Provide transparent and data-driven delivery updates to executive leadership, highlighting risks, capacity constraints, and mitigation plans.
Metrics, Reporting & Delivery Performance
· Define and own delivery KPIs such as on-time delivery %, schedule variance, risk closure rate, and customer delivery satisfaction.
· Build executive dashboards to provide visibility into delivery health and execution trends.
· Analyze delivery data to identify systemic issues and recommend structural or process improvements.
· Drive accountability across teams for delivery commitments and performance outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience
· 15+ years of experience in project, program, or PMO leadership roles within SaaS, product, or technology-driven organizations.
· Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming PMO functions in growing organizations.
· Strong background in customer-facing delivery programs with global or US-based clients.
· Proven people leadership experience managing and developing teams of Project Managers.
· Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
· Ability to manage complex, cross-functional delivery environments involving Product, Engineering, QA, and Operations.
· PMP Required
· Insurance / Property & Casualty domain knowledge is strongly preferred.

· Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership when required.

Required Availability
- Must be available during US business hours (Pacific Time overlap required) to support West Coast customers.
- Flexible to collaborate with global teams across India and the US
- Travel as required based on customer engagements and leadership needs..
