Quality Control (QC) Manager – Forging & Piping Industry
Job Summary:
The QC Manager is responsible for leading and managing all quality control activities within the forging and piping manufacturing processes. This role ensures compliance with international quality standards, including ISO 9001:2015 and PED 2014/68/EU, while maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction. The QC Manager will supervise inspection teams, develop and implement quality systems, and liaise with regulatory bodies and clients regarding quality matters.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management Systems (QMS):

Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s QMS in compliance with ISO 9001:2015.

Ensure all documentation, procedures, and processes meet internal and external audit requirements.

Lead internal and external audits, including those from notified bodies for PED compliance.

Product and Process Quality Control:

Supervise inspection of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products as per industry standards (ASTM, ASME, DIN, EN, etc.).

Implement Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (UT, RT, PT, MT, VT) and coordinate with third-party inspection agencies.

Ensure dimensional and metallurgical inspections meet design specifications for forged and piping products.

Compliance and Certification:

Ensure full compliance with PED requirements, including material traceability, conformity assessments, and CE Marking.

Oversee the preparation and validation of Quality Control Plans (QCP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and related documentation.

Manage customer complaints and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Team Leadership and Training:

Lead and mentor the quality control team, setting KPIs and monitoring performance.

Organize training programs on ISO 9001 and PED compliance for quality and production teams.

Supplier Quality Management:

Audit and approve raw material and component suppliers.

Ensure incoming material complies with material certificates like EN 10204 3.1/3.2.

Continuous Improvement:

Lead root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives to improve product quality and reduce rejection rates.

Utilize tools such as FMEA, Pareto Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and 5 Why Analysis for problem-solving.

Key Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 QMS and PED 2014/68/EU compliance requirements.

Strong understanding of forging and piping industry processes (hot forging, heat treatment, machining, welding).

Proficient in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and standards.

Familiarity with international material and product standards (ASTM, ASME, EN, DIN).

Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.

Proficiency in preparing technical documentation (QCP, ITP, NCR, CAPA reports).

Analytical skills with expertise in quality tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA).

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or related field.

Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Quality Control within the forging or piping industry.

Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 (preferred).

Familiarity with CE Marking and working with Notified Bodies for PED certification.

Knowledge of ERP and quality management software is an added advantage.
