Senior Designer
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer for solar ground-mounted projects to lead the design and engineering of utility-scale and commercial solar PV systems. The candidate will be responsible for delivering optimized, cost-effective, and technically compliant designs while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and layout of ground-mounted solar PV systems (fixed tilt / tracker-based)
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings including:
- GA layouts
- SLD (Single Line Diagrams)
- Electrical layouts
- Cable routing and trench layouts
- Perform plant design using tools such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or equivalent
- Conduct site feasibility studies including shading analysis and terrain evaluation
- Optimize plant capacity, DC/AC ratio, and energy yield
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical teams for integrated design
- Review and validate BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, DISCOM norms, and international standards
- Support tendering, proposal preparation, and technical documentation
- Provide design support during execution and commissioning stages
- Mentor junior designers and review their work
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / PV Engineering / Renewable Energy Engineering
- Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in design and engineering of large-scale solar PV projects, specifically ground-mounted systems (100 MW or above)
- Proven experience in at least one utility-scale solar PV plant with evacuation voltage of 66 kV or above
- Strong knowledge of:
- Solar PV systems (utility-scale)
- Electrical systems and grid connectivity
- Structural considerations for mounting systems
