Job Description:
A Civil Engineer for iron ore mines manages, designs, and maintains site infrastructure—including roads, tailings dams, and processing plants—to ensure safe, efficient operation. Key duties include surveying, structural design, budgeting, contractor management, and compliance with safety regulations. Required skills include CAD proficiency, project management, and structural expertise.
Core Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Development: Designing and constructing site infrastructure, including structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic works (roads, conveyor foundations, drainage, ore processing buildings).
- Project Management: Developing work schedules, monitoring project progress, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and time constraints.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Ensuring construction adheres to safety standards (e.g., IS standards), structural integrity requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Surveying and Design: Preparing drawings, design, and proposals for civil works, utilizing CAD software.
- Contractor Management: Supervising contractors, verifying work completion, and certifying RA bills.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Relevant experience in managing civil works, specifically within iron ore beneficiation plants or mining infrastructure.
- Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and project management software, strong technical communication, and experience with earthwork calculations.
Working Conditions
- Often involves working in remote mining areas with, at times, provided accommodation.
- Close coordination with mining engineers, geologists, and environmental teams.
