Job Description:
A 1st Class Boiler Operator in a steel company (typically AFBC/WHRB/Coal-fired) operates high-pressure steam boilers, overseeing daily operations, water treatment, safety compliance, and maintenance. They ensure consistent steam generation for production, troubleshooting boiler, DCS, and fuel handling systems, while strictly adhering to Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR).
Key Job Responsibilities
- Boiler Operation & Monitoring: Safely manage high-pressure boilers, turbines, and steam networks.
- DCS/Control Panel Management: Monitor and control boiler parameters (pressure, temperature, flow) via Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Water Treatment: Manage DM/RO plant operations and monitor boiler feed water quality.
- Fuel & Ash Handling: Oversee feeding of fuel and operation of fuel handling systems.
- Maintenance & Inspection: Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and prepare boilers for statutory inspections.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to IBR guidelines and plant safety protocols.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Valid 1st Class Boiler Attendant/Operator Certificate.
- Experience: 2–5 years in high-pressure boiler operations, ideally in steel, sponge iron, or power plants.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of AFBC (Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion) and WHRB (Waste Heat Recovery Boiler) technologies.
- Skills: Troubleshooting, shift work adaptability, and strong safety awareness.
