Senior Iceberg DBA

Job Description:

We are seeking a high-level Iceberg DBA to lead Lakehouse operations for a large-scale environment. If you thrive on optimizing TB/PB scale data and mastering the Medallion architecture, we want to hear from you.

Key Details

• Location: 100% Remote (US-Based) | HQ: Plano, TX

• Duration: 12+ Months (Candidates must have 12-month validity)

• Core Tech: Apache Iceberg, Cloudera (CDP), Spark, Hive, Impala

What You’ll Do

• Optimize & Manage: Hands-on Iceberg table optimization (compaction, metadata, partition evolution).

• Performance Tuning: Lead multi-engine tuning across Spark, Hive, and Impala.

• Incident Response: Drive resolution for P1/P2 production incidents in large-scale environments.

• Architecture: Enforce Lakehouse standards and guide teams on Medallion architecture implementation.

• Migrations: Support complex data migrations (Hive/Teradata → Iceberg).

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years in Big Data / Data Engineering / DBA roles.

• 2+ years of hands-on Apache Iceberg in a production environment (Must-Have).

• 6+ years of experience with the Cloudera (CDP) ecosystem.

• Expertise in Spark SQL, Hive, Impala, and Trino.

• Strong grip on Parquet/ORC file formats and distributed query processing.

• Proven ability to mentor L2 resources and lead data modeling standards.
