Job Description:
A Surveyor for a Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) project is responsible for conducting precise land measurements, topographic surveys, and alignment investigations for rural road construction. They play a critical role in generating data for Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), ensuring proper road geometry, and aiding in compliance with technical specifications set by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and Indian Roads Congress (I
Key Responsibilities
- Site Surveys and Data Collection: Conduct field surveys, including plane table, topographic, and contour surveys using Total Station and DGPS.
- Alignment Investigation: Map the existing road, including tracking GPS coordinates (UTM WGS-84 system) for the start and end points.
- Preparation of Data for DPRs: Create detailed survey plans, strip plans, and cross-section drawings (at maximum 30m intervals).
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate survey reports, sketches, and maps for technical scrutiny by State Technical Agencies (STA).
- Quality Control: Identify potential survey-related risks and verify site suitability, including the location of utility poles, electric lines, and existing Cross Drainage (CD) structures.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work with engineers and contractors to set out alignment, benchmarks, and levels for road work.
- Inventory of Existing Features: Document all cross-drainage structures (culverts, bridges) with invert levels and HFL (High Flood Level).
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Total Station, DGPS/GPS surveying, and AutoCAD software.
- Experience: Previous experience (often 4–5+ years) in road construction surveying, specifically involving DPR preparation.
- Knowledge of Guidelines: Familiarity with PMGSY, IRC codes, and MoRD specifications.
- Physical Aptitude: Ability to work outdoors in challenging rural terrains and varying weather conditions.
