Job Description:
A Mines Manager (often requiring a 1st or 2nd Class Certificate) is responsible for the overall planning, organization, supervision, and safety of mining operations. They ensure production targets are met while maintaining strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, statutory regulations (like DGMS in India), and conducting regular inspections of underground or open-pit areas.
  • Production & Operational Management: Developing and implementing mining plans, monitoring output, and controlling costs. Overseeing Drilling & Blasting, HEMM operations, and mineral recovery.
  • Staff and Team Leadership: Supervising, mentoring, and leading mine staff, including shift supervisors and contractors, to foster a high-performance, safe culture.
  • Strategic Planning and Development: Coordinating with engineers, geologists, and surveyors to optimize extraction strategies and manage long-term mine development.
  • Financial Control: Managing departmental budgets to optimize production costs and ensure effective utilization of site assets. 
     
Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Certification: Valid First Class or Second Class Mines Manager Certificate (e.g., from DGMS in India).
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in mechanized or underground mining, often requiring 5+ years in a senior management role.
  • Skills: Strong technical knowledge of mining methods, machinery, and software, along with leadership and financial management skills.
