Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Care: Planting, watering, pruning, and nurturing flowers, trees, and shrubs.
- Maintenance: Mowing lawns, weeding gardens, edging pathways, and removing dead growth
.
- Health Management: Identifying and treating weeds, pests, and diseases, and applying, fertilizer or pesticides.
- Equipment Operation: Using and servicing tools such as mowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and pruning saws.
- Landscape Design: Contributing to or implementing landscape plans, including planting new beds and, sometimes, installing irrigation.
- Site Upkeep: Ensuring walkways, gardens, and grounds are free from litter and debris.
Requirements and Skills
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of, or experience with, horticulture, plant life, and local, seasonal needs.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift up to 80 pounds, and stand for long periods, often in varied weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using, maintaining, and repairing, gardening, tools and machinery.
- Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for aesthetics and, detail to ensure a neat, professional appearance.
- Experience/Education: While not always mandatory, a high school diploma, certifications in horticulture, or prior landscaping experience is highly desirable.
Work Environment
Gardeners typically work outdoors, experiencing varied weather conditions such as, heat and, rain. They may work at public parks, private homes, botanical gardens, hotels, or commercial properties -
