Job Description:
A security guard protects property, personnel, and visitors by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, and controlling access points to prevent theft, violence, or infractions. Key responsibilities include conducting security checks, responding to emergencies, reporting, and enforcing safety regulations to create a secure, visible presence.
0.Core Responsibilities
- Patrolling and Surveillance: Conducting regular foot or vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior to identify risks, safety hazards, or unauthorized activity.
- Access Control: Monitoring entrances/exits, checking identification of employees and visitors, and issuing visitor passes to prevent unauthorized access.
- Monitoring Systems: Operating and supervising alarm systems, CCTV cameras, and security equipment.
- Emergency Response: Acting as first responders to security breaches, medical incidents, or fires, and liaising with law enforcement or emergency services.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintaining daily logs and preparing detailed incident reports for management.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforcing site regulations, evicting trespassers, and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Observation and Vigilance: Ability to notice small changes or suspicious behavior.
- Communication Skills: Clear communication for reporting and interacting with the public.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand/walk for long periods and respond to incidents.
- Integrity and Composure: Maintaining professionalism and calm, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with security systems (surveillance cameras, radios, scanners).
- Certifications: Often requires valid state-issued security licenses or guard cards, and first aid/CPR training.
