Job Description:
A hospital attendant provides non-clinical support, assisting patients with daily tasks, mobility, and comfort while helping nursing staff. Key duties include feeding, cleaning, transporting patients, changing linens, and monitoring for changes in condition. Ideal candidates have strong communication skills, patience, and often a high school diploma or CNA certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Hygiene: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care.
- Mobility & Transport: Helping patients move in/out of bed, walking, and transporting them via wheelchairs or stretchers.
- Monitoring & Support: Providing companionship, adjusting, and feeding patients.
- Safety & Maintenance: Maintaining clean patient rooms, changing bed linens, and sanitizing equipment.
- Communication: Reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff and following infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is typically required.
- Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is often preferred or required.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, physical stamina, and ability to work in a team.
