Job Description:

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Agronomist to lead large-scale cultivation of Napier grass across ~500 acres for our CBG projects. The role involves crop planning, yield optimization, and ensuring consistent biomass supply. The candidate should be capable of both planning and strong on-ground execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute Napier grass cultivation cycles to ensure continuous biomass supply
  • Select appropriate crop varieties based on soil and climatic conditions
  • Oversee land preparation, soil health, and nutrient management
  • Drive yield optimization through scientific agronomy practices
  • Monitor crop health and manage pest, disease, and weed control
  • Work with specialized irrigation agencies and ensure proper implementation and efficiency of irrigation systems
  • Plan harvesting schedules aligned with plant requirements
  • Manage farm operations, labor teams, and supervisors across large land parcels
  • Maintain records of yield, costs, and productivity metrics
  • Ensure sustainable and efficient farming practices

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in large-scale farming
  • Experience in Napier grass or similar high-biomass crops preferred
  • Strong understanding of soil science, irrigation, and crop cycles
  • Experience managing multi-acre farming operations
  • Ability to work on-ground and manage field teams effectively

Preferred Industry Exposure

  • Bioenergy / CBG / Biomass-based projects
  • Contract farming or plantation management
  • Agri-tech or mechanized farming environments

Reporting & Coordination

  • Reports to Project Head / Operations Head (CBG Division)
  • Coordinate with plant operations for feedstock planning
  • Work with external agencies including irrigation partners
  • Coordinate with farm supervisors, contractors, and logistics teams
