Job Description:
An Instrument Technician in a power plant installs, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots complex field instruments, control systems, and automation devices (DCS, PLC, SCADA) to ensure reliable operations. They work on sensors, transmitters, and control valves (pressure, temperature, flow), requiring a Diploma/ITI in Instrumentation/Electronics and 3–5 years of industrial experience. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Calibration & Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic instruments to ensure accurate measurement and control.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose faults in control systems, field instruments, and local panels, repairing or replacing components like transmitters and valves.
  • System Upgrades & Installation: Install new field instruments, perform loop checks, and assist with commissioning and startup/shutdown activities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety, health, and environment (HSE) policies, including isolating power supplies and using appropriate safety equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting activities (e.g., using CMMS/EAM systems). 
    Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Diploma or ITI in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrical engineering.
  • Experience: Usually 3–5 years of industrial experience, specifically in power generation or process plants.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with calibration equipment (multimeters, HART communicators), understanding of P&IDs, and experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Physical Aptitude: Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, often in demanding industrial environments.

The entity is engaged in setting up a Greenfield project at Mudpar --- Rampura villages in the Nawagarh tehsil, Bemetara district (near Mungeli), which includes 2×350 TPD DRI (sponge iron) kilns --- an 18-MW WHRB-based captive --- plant.
