Job Description:
An Engineer in Steel Manufacturing optimizes production processes, ensures quality, and maintains equipment efficiency to meet safety and production targets. Key responsibilities include production scheduling, process improvement, troubleshooting machinery, and implementing quality control standards. A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering is typically required.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Production Planning & Optimization: Create production schedules, optimize workflows (using Lean/Six Sigma), and improve efficiency for manufacturing processes.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Establish and enforce quality standards, ensure compliance with ISO and environmental regulations, and manage material testing.
- Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of production equipment, including furnaces, rolling mills, and casting machines.
- Process Improvement: Analyze production data to reduce waste, enhance quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), SAP entries, and production reports.
- Project Management: Lead or support plant infrastructure projects, including structural steel erection or plant expansion.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience: 5-8 years in high-volume manufacturing, with experience in steel production or heavy industry preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP, statistical process control (SPC), and Microsoft Office.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, team leadership, and communication skills.
