Job Description:

Reporting into the Nsr Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for the delivery of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line support of the Company's IT Infrastructure.

The primary purpose of your role will be to own the day to day implementation, operation and support of the company’s technology infrastructure to meet or exceed agreed availability and performance targets.

Leading an in-house team and third parties across architecture, security, engineering, delivery and support, you will have accountability for all infrastructure services including network and telephony, storage, hosting and server infrastructure (on-premise and cloud), infrastructure applications and end user computing.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing internal and third party resources as required to build and run the enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Ensuring all solutions provide the required level of availability, performance and security.
  • Assisting the delivery of the infrastructure initiatives plan, ensuring all infrastructure projects are delivered within the pre-agreed parameters of time, cost, scope, risk, quality and benefits.
  • Ensuring all infrastructure services are managed and supported according to industry/vendor best practice, following defined processes and procedures and to meet agreed availability and performance KPIs.
  • Ensuring all colleague infrastructure support tickets are resolved/fulfilled in line with SLA and colleague satisfaction targets, following agreed ITSM processes.
  • Ensuring that all infrastructure components are managed to the appropriate level of risk with respect to security patches, software/firmware revision levels and supplier supported versions.
  • Proactively seeking service improvements in the areas of reliability, performance, availability, security, supportability or cost.
  • Overseeing the effective transition of new or updated infrastructure services ensuring operational readiness criteria are identified and achieved.
  • Working closely with other Company's IT teams to ensure there is a coordinated approach to infrastructure delivery and operations.
  • Assisting in managing all third party supplier contracts for infrastructure services, ensuring agreements are in place and aligned to business requirements.
  • Providing periodic reporting and management information on infrastructure delivery initiatives, operational KPIs and budget management. (including KPIs such as uptime, incident response times, SLA adherence, and project delivery metrics)
What we’ll expect from you

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly motivated self-starter, who is well organised with an excellent understanding of IT infrastructure and experience of both insourced and outsourced delivery/run models.

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced Infrastructure Engineer having held roles with direct responsibility for operations/support across all aspects of IT infrastructure.

The following attributes and experience are essential for this role:

  • Extensive experience as a infrastructure engineer in a colleague centric, multi-site businesses comprising UK wide retail outlets, support offices and warehouses requiring a strong reliance on high performing infrastructure.
  • Previous experience working in mixed on-premise/cloud environments particularly Nutanix and Azure eco systems.
  • Extensive experience of managing network and telephony (WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, Voice), hosting and server infrastructure, infrastructure applications and end user devices (desktops/laptops, mobile/tablets, peripherals).
  • An excellent understanding of enterprise best practice infrastructure management, including use of automation/orchestration, monitoring and logging.
  • Working knowledge of cyber security and information security threats
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively communicate with and influence others at all levels.
  • Drive and determination to continuously improve stability, security and colleague satisfaction.
  • Significant experience working within ITIL and Prince2 or similar methodologies  (formal certification preferred but strong practical experience considered)
  • Ability to in written form: define a problem, propose one or more solutions with cost, time and resource requirements and upon sign off, use an agreed project methodology (loosely based on Prince 2) to plan and deliver the project within time and budget

On-Call/Out-of-Hours Support: Infrastructure engineer will be required to participate in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support for critical incidents and planned maintenance activities outside core business hours, with additional remuneration or time off in lieu as per company policy.

(Working Hours/Timing: 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm 6 months and 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm 6 months due to daylight UK timing)
