Job Description:
Position: Procurement Head
Location: Gandhidham
Experience: 15 - 20 Years
Industries: Shipping/Marine
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end procurement activities for port operations, CHA, stevedoring, transportation, warehousing, construction, and chartering businesses in compliance with company policies and maritime regulations.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies, sourcing policies, vendor selection processes, and cost-control initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Manage procurement of critical materials and services including stevedoring labor/equipment, fleet vehicle hiring, spare parts, indirect materials, warehouse equipment, construction materials, and chartering support services.
- Negotiate high-value contracts, commercial terms, and service agreements to ensure cost optimization, quality standards, and timely delivery.
- Drive strategic sourcing through competitive bidding, bulk purchasing, and value engineering initiatives to achieve annual cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, transporters, contractors, and service providers within the maritime and logistics ecosystem.
- Conduct vendor onboarding, performance evaluations, compliance audits, and supplier development programs to ensure reliable and efficient supply partnerships.
- Coordinate closely with port operations, logistics, finance, HR, legal, warehouse, and project teams to fulfill organization-wide procurement requirements effectively.
- Lead and mentor a small procurement team while actively contributing as an individual performer in daily sourcing and purchasing activities.
- Implement and manage ERP-based procurement systems such as Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle NetSuite for procurement tracking, inventory management, approval workflows, and reporting.
- Ensure timely procurement support for all group-level operational and corporate requirements including goods, services, contracts, and administrative purchases.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, supplier performance, and risk factors to support strategic decision-making and uninterrupted business operations.
Required Skills:
- Proven expertise in handling small to mid-sized procurement teams and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders across stevedoring, transportation, warehousing, and chartering operations.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost-control skills with hands-on experience in ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and Oracle NetSuite.
- Sound knowledge of maritime operations, CHA compliance, vendor audits, inventory management, and strategic sourcing practices.
Required Qualification: - B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical/MBA - SCM
