Job Description:
A Press Supervisor in a refractory ceramic manufacturing plant is responsible for overseeing the shaping/pressing department, ensuring high-temperature ceramic bricks or shapes are produced efficiently, accurately, and safely according to specifications. They manage the hydraulic/isostatic press machines, molds, and the personnel operating them to ensure proper density and dimension of the final products. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Job Responsibilities:
  • Production Management: Supervise day-to-day pressing operations, ensuring production targets are met. Set up, calibrate, and monitor press machines, molds, and dies. [1, 2]
  • Operational Control: Monitor forming parameters such as pressure, cycle time, and material consistency (moisture/density) during the pressing process. [1, 2]
  • Quality Assurance: Perform visual and dimensional inspections to identify defects like cracks, laminations, or improper sizing. [1, 2]
  • Workforce Management: Assign tasks to operators, train new staff, and manage shift manpower. [1, 2]
  • Maintenance Coordination: Work with the maintenance team to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot machine breakdowns quickly. [1]
  • Safety Adherence: Enforce PPE usage, machine safety, and strict compliance with safety regulations on the shop floor. [1, 2]
  • Documentation: Prepare daily production reports, material usage reports, and maintain machine logs. [1, 2]
Key Requirements:
  • Experience: 4–9 years of experience in ceramic, refractory, or industrial production. Prior experience in supervising pressing (hydraulic/isostatic) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with refractory raw materials, press machine operation, and mold handling.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production schedules.
  • Education: A Diploma in Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant experience. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
