About Ecofy
Ecofy (ecofy.io) is a fast-growing manufacturer and exporter of molded-fiber tableware, producing sustainable bagasse-based plates, bowls, and food packaging for customers across 20+ countries. As part of our expansion, we are establishing a new manufacturing facility and building a strong operations team to support world-class manufacturing practices.
Role Summary
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing incoming, in-process, and final product quality across Ecofy’s molded-fiber tableware production lines. The role involves establishing quality systems, ensuring compliance with food-contact and compostability standards, handling customer complaints through CAPA processes, and supporting certification and audit activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement inspection plans for:
- Raw pulp
- Additives
- Finished products
- Conduct and supervise quality tests including:
- GSM testing
- Moisture analysis
- Oil and water resistance testing
- Compression strength testing
- Dimensional accuracy checks
- Migration limit testing
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of all laboratory instruments and measuring equipment.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for:
- Internal quality rejections
- Customer complaints
- Process deviations
- Drive timely closure of CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
- Prepare and maintain:
- Certificates of Analysis (COA)
- Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Product specification sheets
- Quality documentation and records
- Support and maintain certifications including:
- FSSAI
- ISO 9001
- ISO 22000
- BRCGS
- BPI
- TÜV OK Compost
- FDA compliance
- Conduct supplier audits and evaluate new raw material vendors.
- Train production teams on:
- Quality standards
- Defect identification
- Visual inspection methods
- Reference sample usage
- Maintain and analyze quality KPIs such as:
- First-pass yield
- Rejection rate
- Complaint rate (PPM)
- Cost of poor quality
Required Qualifications & Skills
- B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc. in:
- Pulp & Paper Technology
- Chemical Engineering
- Polymer Science
- Packaging Technology
- Food Technology
- 3–5 years of QA/QC experience in:
- Molded fiber manufacturing
- Paper industry
- Food-contact packaging industry
- Hands-on experience with testing equipment such as:
- GSM balance
- Cobb tester
- Bursting strength tester
- Thickness gauge
- Compression testing equipment
- Strong knowledge of:
- ISO 9001
- ISO 22000
- HACCP
- Compostability standards (EN 13432, ASTM D6400)
- Strong documentation, reporting, and audit-handling capability.
- Familiarity with statistical quality tools such as:
- SPC
- Control Charts
- MSA
- Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
