Job Description:

Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Job profile

We are looking for a highly skilled Analog and Digital Hardware Engineer with a deep understanding of analog and mixed-signal design, specifically tailored for defence and aerospace-grade electronics. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in designing rugged, mission-critical hardware systems with strict adherence to military standards (MIL-STD). This role demands technical excellence, attention to quality and compliance, and an ability to lead hardware development from concept through deployment in high-reliability environments.

Job Role and Responsibilities

  1. Design and development of mixed-signal hardware for defense and aerospace platforms, including signal conditioning, sensor interfaces, power management, and EMI/EMC-compliant circuits.
  2. Optimize analog circuits for precision signal acquisition, conditioning, and reliable performance under stringent aerospace and defence requirements.
  3. Interface with microcontrollers, processors, and communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, DDR, Ethernet, ARINC, MIL-STD-1553).
  4. Implement proper filtering techniques and isolation to ensure circuit performance and reliability.
  5. Select military-grade components and ensure robustness in extreme environmental conditions (temperature, vibration, altitude, etc.).
  6. Lead schematic design, PCB layout review, and component selection aligned with system-level architecture and signal integrity requirements.
  7. Prepare, review, and maintain hardware documentation including design specifications, testing protocols, and qualification reports.
  8. Conduct design validation and qualification in accordance with MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-810G, RCMA requirements and other applicable aerospace/defence standards.
  9. Work cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure design manufacturability, testability, and system integration.
  10. Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot field and lab issues, and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Skills & Experience Mandatory

4–5 years of experience in mixed-signal hardware design for defence and aerospace systems.

Experience with microcontrollers, processors, and communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, ARINC, MIL-STD-1553, etc.).

Strong background in LTSpice / PSpice / Multisim / Proteus, TINA-TI or equivalent simulation tools for circuit behavior analysis.

Hands on experience in dealing with circuit protection, EMI-EMC (CS, EFT, Surge, RS, RE, ESD), understanding of signal integrity.

Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Reliability (DFR), and environmental stress screening (ESS).

Familiarity with aerospace/defence qualification processes, compliance requirements, and related documentation.

Should know how to perform MTBF and MTTR.

Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a structured, process-driven environment.

Preferred

Experience in rugged electronics design for airborne, land, or naval platforms.

Exposure to MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-810G/H, DO-160.

Understanding of RF analog hardware is an advantage.

Proven track record of delivering qualified products to defence customers (e.g., DRDO, HAL, BEL, Indian Armed Forces).
