Job Description:

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading the human resources strategy and managing industrial relations to ensure a productive and harmonious workplace.

This role oversees talent management, employee engagement, labor law compliance, union negotiations and workforce planning while aligning HR initiatives with business objectives

Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead workforce planning, manpower budgeting, and organizational development.
  • Advise senior management on HR policies and organizational changes.
  • Drive HR Business excellence
  • Drive HR transformation and digital HR initiatives.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
  • Ensure timely hiring to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop succession planning and leadership pipelines.

Performance & Talent Management

  • Design and monitor performance appraisal systems.
  • Implement learning & development programs.
  • Identify high-potential employees and create career progression plans.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee salary benchmarking, payroll coordination, and benefits administration.
  • Ensure competitive compensation structures aligned with market standards.
  • Manage reward and recognition programs.

Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and statutory regulations.
  • Draft, update, and implement HR and IR policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and audit documentation.

Personnel Related Activities:

  • Preparation of MIS
  • Prepare reports relating to Manpower indicating sanction / On Roll Figure and average deployment
  • Employee details for finance related to salary and other requirements
  • Employee Turnover
  • Summary of MCS strength unit wise
  • Coordinate with Heads for various services to be provided by SSU5 like Recruitment, promotion, pay fixation, performance appraisal, etc.
  • Provide MIS support to  Heads as required by them.
  • Statutory Government related Matters
  • Initiate action to file statutory return relating to compulsory notification of vacancies
  • Initiate action to file quarterly return on vacancies and filling up of posts
  • Interact with Employees to provide welfare facilities, attend to employee grievances relating to salary/wages, promotion, etc.
  • Provide MIS to HO as required.  Implement policy decision of HO regarding salary revision, personnel practices, welfare measures, as may be required.
  • Coordinate / Advice  for payment of salary/allowances/benefits to employees of all levels.  Provide information/MIS required  relating to personnel matters.
  • Interact with Suppliers for providing shoes / socks / uniform / towels to employees
  • and arrange to settle their bills
  • Preparation of Job Description 

Personnel Activities

  • Ensure Proper maintenance of all the personnel records
  • Coordinate for payment of salaries
  • Carry out the recruitment according to the plan in coordination with the SSU5 head
  • Coordinate activities related to VRS
  • Ensure settlement of dues in case of separated employees
  • Issue Salary certificates, Employment certificates to employees
  • Issue Time Bound and Vacancy based promotions for staff and workers
  • Issue Transfers, Re-Designation, Deputation (Locally- Intra Unit) letters on basis of requirements
  • Coordinate with for payments of transfer benefits, LTA, Professional Membership fee, Maternity Benefits
  • Sanction loans for purchase of vehicles and interest subsidy for four wheelers as per policy

 IR Related Activities:

  • Ensure compliance and implement all labour legislation and guide the concerned for the same in time by coordinating with them
  • Longterm settlement negotiation, MIS and RCI data preparation and LTA signing and implementation.
  • Ensure submission of returns under various labour legislation by concerned
  • Deal with legal issues related to employees including dismissals and terminations
  • Coordinate with the employee union to ensure that there is no loss in production and attend to their grievances
  • Ensure that the Workers/Employees are following the rules and regulations set by the company
  • Assist line Managers on matters relating to IR / discipline
  • Coordinate with Advocates on legal issues - Local and Outstation and prepare backgrounds / contentions for cases and pending cases

Welfare Activities

  • Counsel the workers and ensure harmony at the work place on day to day basis
  • Organize weekly meetings with the union office bearers and management and submit the MOM and ensure its implementation
  • Ensure time PPE procured and issued as per policy
  • Coordinate with Occupational Health centre to provide first aid and other medical services to the employees
  • Ensure safe working conditions for the employees

 General Activities

  • Coordinate with insurance company, hospitals, SSU3 and employees to provide hospitalization coverage for ESI exempted employees
  • Coordinate with Employees Consumers Cooperative society to ensure its smooth functioning
  • Coordinate with BU People Managers to counsel employees resorting to frequent absenteeism and persuade them to resume duty

 Other Activities

  • Raise indents purchase of consumables like uniforms Shoes Towels. etc depending upon the requirements
