About the Opportunity

Orbit Global HR Consultants, a leading Executive Search and Leadership Hiring Firm, is hiring for a prestigious leadership opportunity with one of India's rapidly growing Mobile & Consumer Electronics Retail organizations.

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head – Retail Operations to lead large-scale retail operations, drive business growth, enhance profitability, and spearhead store expansion across Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 markets in India.

This strategic leadership role reports directly to the CEO and offers the opportunity to lead a high-growth retail business with significant responsibility for revenue, profitability, customer experience, store expansion, and organizational development.


Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end retail operations across a large network of multi-brand mobile and consumer electronics stores.
  • Ensure operational excellence, SOP compliance, and consistency across all retail locations.
  • Drive store productivity, customer engagement, sales conversion, and operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in visual merchandising, planogram execution, and in-store customer experience.
  • Develop scalable retail processes aligned with non-metro market requirements.

Revenue & Profitability Management

  • Own complete P&L responsibility for the retail business.
  • Drive revenue growth and improve overall business profitability.
  • Manage and optimize key performance metrics including:
    • Revenue
    • Gross Margins
    • EBITDA
    • Store Profitability
    • Average Bill Value (ABV)
    • Conversion Ratios
  • Monitor operational costs, manpower expenses, rentals, and store overheads.

Retail Expansion & Network Growth

  • Develop and execute retail expansion strategies across emerging markets.
  • Evaluate new store opportunities through:
    • Market Research
    • Location Feasibility
    • ROI Analysis
    • Catchment Assessment
  • Lead store rollout projects including:
    • Company-Owned Stores (COCO)
    • Franchise-Owned Stores (FOFO)
    • Hybrid Retail Formats
  • Collaborate with Real Estate, Projects, Finance, and Legal teams for seamless expansion.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Drive inventory optimization and stock planning.
  • Improve inventory turnover while reducing stock ageing and dead inventory.
  • Ensure stock availability across categories.
  • Implement strong audit controls and shrinkage prevention measures.
  • Coordinate closely with category management and supply chain teams.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor Regional Managers, Area Managers, Cluster Managers, and Store Managers.
  • Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability and results.
  • Establish robust KPI frameworks and performance review mechanisms.
  • Drive employee engagement, capability building, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Manage succession planning and reduce attrition across the retail network.

Vendor & OEM Relationship Management

  • Develop strategic relationships with leading OEMs and distributors including:
    • Apple
    • Samsung
    • Xiaomi
    • Vivo
    • Oppo
    • Realme
    • OnePlus
    • Motorola
  • Drive visibility programs, trade promotions, launch activities, and scheme execution.
  • Negotiate commercial arrangements to maximize profitability and market share.

Customer Experience & Compliance

  • Ensure exceptional customer experience across all stores.
  • Drive improvements in:
    • Customer Satisfaction (CSAT)
    • Net Promoter Score (NPS)
    • Service Standards
  • Handle escalated customer issues and ensure prompt resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, operational, and audit requirements.

Business Analytics & MIS

  • Monitor and review business performance through data-driven insights.
  • Analyze:
    • Daily Sales Reports
    • Inventory Reports
    • Productivity Metrics
    • Store Performance Dashboards
    • Customer Feedback
  • Present strategic recommendations and business reviews to senior leadership.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

  • Graduate in any discipline.
  • MBA / PGDM preferred in:

Experience

  • 15–22 years of experience in Retail Operations.
  • Minimum 7–10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in Mobile Phones and Consumer Electronics Retail.
  • Strong experience managing large retail store networks.
  • Demonstrated success in retail expansion and store rollouts.
  • Strong exposure to Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 market operations.
  • Experience managing large teams and multi-location businesses.
