Job Description:
A Weight Bridge and Dispatch Supervisor oversees the accurate weighing of incoming/outgoing materials and directs overall logistics. They ensure precise tonnage records, verify transportation paperwork (e-way bills, challans), and manage the safe, timely dispatch of goods while enforcing strict safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities
Weighbridge & Weighing Operations
- Operate Weighbridge Systems: Accurately weigh trucks before (gross) and after (tare) loading to calculate net material weight.
- Document Generation: Issue weighment slips, gate passes, and weight tickets for all transactions.
- System Logging: Input and verify all weighing data accurately into the ERP or inventory management systems.
- Equipment Maintenance: Routinely inspect the weighbridge to ensure it is calibrated, clean, and functioning properly; report any malfunctions immediately. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate Truck Flow: Manage the orderly arrival and positioning of trucks to prevent bottlenecks and loading delays. [1, 2]
- Documentation Verification: Ensure that all drivers have the proper dispatch forms, delivery notes, and regulatory documents before leaving the facility. [1, 2, 3]
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate closely with sales, logistics, warehouse, and security teams to ensure dispatch schedules are met. [1, 2]
- Dispute Resolution: Handle discrepancies between ordered quantities and actual weighed quantities, notifying management of any discrepancies. [1, 2, 3]
Compliance & Safety
- Weight Limits: Ensure all vehicles comply with legal and facility weight limits; report or reject overweight vehicles.
- Safety Protocols: Enforce site safety and security protocols (e.g., PPE usage, traffic rules) during the loading and weighing process.
- Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding material intake, dispatch metrics, and any operational delays for management. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent operational experience).
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing weighbridge operations, dispatch, or logistics.
- Tech Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP software, or dedicated dispatch management software.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, conflict resolution, numerical accuracy, and leadership capabilities.
