Engineer/ Sr. Engineer NPD (Mold Process Function)

Job Description:

Role Description:
Responsible for planning, developing, validating, and implementing molds, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing processes for new product introduction. The role involves mold development, process optimization, APQP/PPAP activities, engineering change management, quality improvement, customer coordination, and ensuring smooth product launches while meeting quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Responsibility:

1. Design and modify molds, fixtures, blocks, pins, jigs, molding fixtures, and checking fixtures as per product requirements.
2. Identify and select suitable raw material grades for tooling and fixture components.
3. Prepare Technical Requirements (TR) and specifications considering manufacturing feasibility.
4. Prepare and monitor APQP timelines for new product development and engineering changes.
5. Develop and maintain PFMEA, PFD, Control Plan, PPAP, and SOP/SOS documentation.
6. Design and optimize manufacturing line layouts to improve productivity, quality, and material flow.
7. Implement ECN/EWO with feasibility assessment and process validation.
8. Identify, analyze, and resolve injection molding quality issues.
9. Drive cycle time reduction, productivity improvement, and part quality enhancement initiatives.
10. Perform root cause analysis for non-conforming parts and implement corrective and preventive actions.
11. Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering records.
12. Coordinate with customers, PE, SQE, suppliers, and internal departments for NPD activities.
13. Participate in trials at in-house, supplier, and customer locations.
14. Prepare and maintain QMS and IATF-related documentation for NPD projects.
15. Conduct Cross Functional Team (CFT) meetings and track project progress.
16. Perform CMM inspection and validation of molds, fixtures, and checking fixtures.
17. Carry out simulation studies for molds and fixtures to ensure process effectiveness.
18. Support production during product launch and stabilization phases.
19. Perform any other assignments as directed by the Department Head.
20. Drive Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives for quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
21. Coordination with customers.
22. Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
23. Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
24. Undertake special projects as and when required.
25. Ensure good 5S and safety practices at the workplace.
26. Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental and other HR Policies

Working Experience:
5–8 years of experience in Mold Development, Injection Molding Process Engineering, Tool Design, or NPD with exposure to customer interaction and product development projects.
