Job Description:

Job Purpose:
The Pastry Chef, also known as the Dessert Chef, is responsible for creating and overseeing the
production of a variety of desserts, pastries, and baked goods To play a crucial role in menu
planning, food preparation. This role requires a high level of skill in pastry arts, a keen
understanding of flavour combinations, and creativity in dessert presentation.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Menu Development:
 Create and update dessert/ice cream menus based on seasonal availability, customer
preferences, and culinary trends.
 Develop new and innovative dessert recipes while considering dietary restrictions and
preferences.
Dessert Preparation:
 Oversee the preparation and production of desserts, pastries, and baked goods.
 Ensure that all items are crafted with precision, attention to detail, and adherence to
established recipes.
Quality Control:
 Maintain high standards of taste, quality, and presentation for all desserts.
 Conduct regular tastings and inspections to uphold consistency.
Creative Presentation:
 Use artistic flair to present desserts in an appealing and visually attractive manner.
 Stay updated on the latest dessert presentation trends and techniques.
Ingredient Management:
 Source and select high-quality ingredients for desserts.
 Manage inventory and control costs through effective portioning and waste reduction.
Staff Training:
 Train and mentor pastry staff on proper techniques and procedures.
 Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the pastry department.
Compliance with Standards:
 Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and food safety
guidelines.
Creativity and Innovation:
 Stay informed about culinary trends and incorporate innovative ideas into menu
development.
 Experiment with new recipes and techniques.

Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :

Education/Experienc
e
(degree / diploma)

 Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Dessert Chef in a
professional kitchen/Ice-cream parlour
 Experience up to 8 to 10 years, especially in Ice cream / Food / FMCG

Knowledge and Skills
(Functional /
Technical)

 Formal culinary education with a focus on pastry /Ice-cream /Desert
 Strong knowledge of ice-cream baking flavour profiles, and dessert
presentation.
 Creative and innovative approach to dessert design and menu
development.
