We are seeking an experienced Manager – Taxation & Payables to lead taxation compliance, accounts payable operations, statutory reporting, and vendor reconciliation for a leading manufacturing organization in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable operations, ensuring accurate booking of supplier invoices, payments, debit notes, and credit notes.
• Review and scrutinize major supplier accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure supplier account reconciliations are completed at least quarterly and obtain balance confirmations while resolving outstanding reconciliation issues.
• Prepare monthly budgeted vs. actual cash flow statements and submit reports to the Finance Controller.
• Prepare and file VAT and Excise returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
• Verify and ensure timely payment of all statutory obligations, including:
  • VAT
  • Excise Duty
  • PAYE
  • NSSF
  • Corporate Advance Tax
• Review GPA reconciliations and ensure physical inventory balances reconcile with the General Ledger.
• Monitor foreign currency supplier transactions and ensure appropriate accounting for foreign exchange gains and losses.
• Analyze accounts payable balances, identify trends, and prepare MIS reports for Senior Management.
• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the General Manager – Finance.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualification: Inter CA / Inter CMA / M.Com
• Experience: 8–10 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Accounts Payable
  • Taxation
  • VAT & Excise compliance
  • Cash Flow Management
  • Vendor Reconciliation
  • Foreign Exchange Accounting
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Criteria

• Age: Up to 40 years
• Manufacturing industry experience is mandatory.
• Ability to work independently while ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance.
