We are looking for a detail-oriented Plant Accountant to support manufacturing finance, cost accounting, inventory controls, and plant performance reporting for a leading manufacturing organization in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform input-output cost analysis to evaluate the cost effectiveness and efficiency of manufacturing operations.
• Reconcile daily material consumption against standard consumption for actual production and report variances, material wastage, and abnormal losses.
• Verify labour, utility, and maintenance costs against standard costs and prepare variance analysis reports.
• Monitor daily finished goods production and ensure accurate system entries and stock transfers to the dispatch department.
• Prepare and submit monthly PRM (Production & Performance Reporting/MIS) reports.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, manufacturing SOPs, and internal control procedures.
• Assist in inventory verification, stock reconciliation, and production cost analysis.
• Support month-end and year-end plant accounting activities, including inventory valuation and cost reporting.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Procurement, and Finance teams to improve cost efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Accounts Manager – Costing & MIS and/or Business Unit Manager.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualification: B.Com / M.Com
• Experience: 5–8 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience in:
  • Plant Accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Inventory Accounting
  • Production Cost Analysis
  • Variance Analysis
  • Manufacturing MIS Reporting
• Strong working knowledge of SAP is mandatory.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Criteria

• Age: Up to 35 years
• Manufacturing industry experience is mandatory.
• Ability to work closely with production and operations teams while maintaining accuracy and strong financial controls.
