Job Description:

Position Overview: 

The incumbent will play a critical role in the Risk Department, focusing on overseeing and managing all aspects of financial and operational risk. This role requires deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, risk management strategies, and experience in Microfinance sector. The ideal candidate will possess Strong expertise in areas of Financial Risk including Liquidity Risk, Market Risk, Asset Liability Management (ALM), Operational Risk, Portfolio Monitoring, Expected Credit Loss (ECL), with sound knowledge of Fundings and Investments including External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) and Direct Assignment/Pass-Through Certificate (DA/PTC) transactions and Enterprise Risk Management

Key Responsibilities: 

Liquidity and Market risk ManagementRisk 

  • LCR preparation, forecasting, monitoring, reporting and prudential limits monitoring
  • Collaborate with treasury and finance teams to optimize funding/investment strategies
  • Monitor Asset Liability mismatches and review of Structured/Dynamic liquidity/IRS
  • Analyze market risk factors including interest rates, RBI monetary/fiscal policy actions and quantify/manage IRRB by application of NII/ Value at risk and EVE approaches
  • Review of treasury proposals and compliance to Investment Policy/Exposure norms
  • Conduct stress tests and scenario analysis under various adverse conditions

Operational Risk

  • Review and monitor new process, product, IT and policy changes in evolving landscape
  • Conduct periodic risk reviews of processes and controls and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance risk-aware culture and ensure proactive risk management
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and other regulations
  • Perform Internal Risk Assessments, monitor STR/CTR and submit quarterly returns
  • Develop, implement, and maintain RCSA, Early Warning System, Loss Data Base Management, BCP and framework for IT risk management
  • Evaluate the risks associated with outsourcing arrangements and ensure proper due diligence is conducted before outsourcing any critical function and periodic monitoring

Credit Risk Management:

  • Assess and monitor credit risk exposure across the organization, including individual accounts, microfinance portfolio, MSME wholesale portfolio and counterparty risk
  • Evaluate and mitigate potential credit risks related to new business opportunities.
  • Manage ECL methodologies and models, transition analysis ensuring compliance with IFRS 9/regulations including forecasting and back-testing/stress testing
  • Collaborate with accounts teams/operations and External consultants to ensure accurate and consistent reporting of ECL, concentrations and collateral management 

Risk Monitoring, Reporting & Governance:

  • Lead the identification, assessment & mitigation of risks within the microfinance, SME and Housing portfolio highlighting potential risks, mitigation strategies, and progress toward risk management goals.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and report findings and solutions
  • Lead risk assessments across organization, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and support ERM framework and drive Automations for risk activities
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the ICAAP process, ensuring capital adequacy in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, external auditors, and other external partners

Educational Background:

  • Financial Risk Manager (FRM), CA, MBA with strong finance and economics background

Experience and Desired Skill sets: 

  • Minimum 7 -10 years of experience in risk management within the financial services sector, with at least 3-4 years specifically in microfinance, lending operations & RBI compliances
  • Deep understanding of risk management methodologies, tools, and frameworks
  • Strong leadership, communication, team mentoring and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and act proactively to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
