Job Description:

Role Overview
The company is looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant to lead the company's taxation, statutory compliance, and audit functions. The incumbent will ensure timely compliance, strengthen financial controls, manage audits and assessments, and advise management on tax and regulatory matters. The role requires strong technical knowledge, sound commercial judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, auditors, consultants, and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Taxation and Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage direct and indirect tax compliances, including Income Tax, GST, TDS, and other applicable regulations.
  • Review and ensure timely filing of tax returns, tax payments, reconciliations, and statutory submissions.
  • Manage advance tax calculations, deferred tax workings, tax provisions, and year-end tax reporting.
  • Review GST input tax credit, output tax liability, e-invoicing, e-way bills, and GST reconciliations.
  • Oversee TDS applicability, deductions, payments, return filings, and Form 26AS/AIS reconciliations.
  • Handle tax assessments, notices, inquiries, appeals, and departmental proceedings.
  • Evaluate tax implications of new transactions, business arrangements, contracts, and commercial initiatives.
  • Identify lawful tax optimisation opportunities while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and communicate their business impact to management.

Audit Management

  • Lead and coordinate statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, GST audits, and other regulatory audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, reconciliations, and financial information required by auditors.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Track audit observations and ensure timely closure of identified issues.
  • Review financial records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support the finalisation of annual financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Ensure adherence to Ind AS, Companies Act requirements, and applicable financial reporting standards.


Financial Controls and Governance

  • Develop and strengthen internal financial controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Review major ledger accounts, balance-sheet schedules, provisions, and statutory reconciliations.
  • Identify financial, taxation, and compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for financial and tax-related transactions.
  • Support improvements and automation within ERP, accounting, taxation, and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate with business, legal, sales, procurement, payroll, and finance teams for accurate accounting and compliance.


Team and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, guide, and review the work of the taxation and audit team.
  • Establish compliance calendars and monitor completion of all statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and ensure quality and timely delivery of assignments.
  • Present key audit findings, tax exposures, compliance status, and risk areas to senior management.
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for finance and business teams on relevant tax and compliance matters.


Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 8-12 years of post-qualification experience in taxation, audit, accounting, or financial compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Income Tax, GST, TDS, Companies Act, Ind AS, and audit requirements.
  • Experience handling tax assessments, notices, litigation support, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prior experience in real estate, proptech, Big Four, consulting, or a multi-entity corporate environment will be preferred.
  • Experience in reviewing agreements and evaluating their tax and accounting implications.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting or ERP platforms such as Tally and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality, ownership, and professional judgment.

  • Timely and accurate completion of all tax and statutory compliances.
  • Successful completion of audits within agreed timelines.
  • Reduction in audit observations, tax exposures, interest, and penalties.
