Job Description:

Stores Manager

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Department: Operations
Reports To: General Manager – Operations

Job Purpose

To plan, organize, and control all store operations across the group, ensuring efficient inventory management, optimum stock availability, cost control, and compliance with company policies and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop inventory planning and forecasting in coordination with user departments.
  • Prepare annual departmental budgets and operational plans.
  • Generate and present inventory MIS reports, including:
    • Inventory In/Out Status Reports
    • Dead Stock Reports
    • Stock Aging Reports
    • Consumption Reports
    • Manpower Status Reports
  • Lead and supervise periodic stock-taking activities across all stores.
  • Organize daily store operations and allocate responsibilities to store personnel.
  • Monitor ERP transactions and ensure alignment between system records and physical inventory.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives across all store operations.
  • Monitor inventory aging and initiate corrective actions to minimize obsolete stock.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for stores department employees.
  • Monitor Reorder Levels (ROL) and recommend procurement actions based on consumption trends.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions.
  • Ensure accountability for all goods received, stored, and issued.
  • Oversee daily and periodic inventory reconciliations.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits related to stores and maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Authority

The Stores Manager is delegated appropriate operational authority to effectively manage stores and inventory functions in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of laws, regulations, and procedures applicable to manufacturing organizations.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in stores, inventory, or warehouse management.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel between operational locations.

  • May require extended working hours, weekend work, and on-call availability depending on operational requirements.

  • High level of concentration and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working extensively on computer systems.
  • Mentally resilient with sound judgment and professional integrity.
