Job Description:

Department: Quality Assurance Industry: Automobile Components Manufacturing

Reporting To: Quality Manager / Plant Head

Role Objective

To ensure consistent product quality, compliance with customer and automotive standards, timely resolution of quality issues, and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, leading to reduced rejections, lower Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and improved customer satisfaction.

1. Customer Quality Management

● Handle all customer quality complaints proactively through WhatsApp, email, calls, and other communication modes.

● Ensure timely acknowledgement, containment, and structured problem-solving responses (8D / CAPA).

● Coordinate with internal teams for quick corrective and preventive actions.

● Conduct frequent customer visits for quality feedback, complaint closure, and relationship building.

● Maintain complete records of customer complaints and trend analysis.

2. In-House Quality Control

● Perform regular patrol inspections covering raw material, in-process, and finished goods.

● Ensure adherence to control plans, SOPs, and work instructions.

● Verify critical characteristics as per drawings and customer specifications.

● Monitor process parameters and escalate deviations.

● Authority to stop production in case of major quality issues.

3. Rejection Analysis & COPQ

● Track daily and monthly in-house and customer-end rejections.

● Prepare monthly COPQ reports including scrap, rework, sorting, and customer return costs.

● Analyze trends and present improvement actions to management.

● Drive initiatives to reduce rejection levels and overall COPQ.

4. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

● Lead root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto techniques.

● Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.

● Support Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.

● Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Purchase teams.

5. Supplier & Incoming Quality

● Inspect incoming materials as per defined quality standards.

● Coordinate with suppliers on quality issues and corrective actions.

● Support supplier quality improvement initiatives and audits.

6. Documentation & Compliance

● Maintain inspection reports, calibration records, COPQ data, and complaint logs.

● Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 requirements.

● Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.

7. Team Coordination & Training

● Train and guide quality inspectors and shop-floor personnel.

● Promote quality awareness and discipline across the organization.

● Ensure effective cross-functional coordination. Key Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of automobile component manufacturing processes

• Understanding of automotive quality tools (8D, PPAP, FMEA, SPC – basic)

• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T;

• Strong communication and customer handling skills

• Data analysis and reporting skills

• Problem-solving mindset

Educational Qualification & Experience Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or related field with 3–8 years of relevant experience in automobile components manufacturing. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Reduction in customer complaints

• Reduction in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

• On-time complaint closure

• Improvement in first-pass yield

• Audit compliance performance
