Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Assistant Manager – Quality Control to lead day-to-day quality inspection operations, inline/final testing, and precision measurements for metal-cutting tools and gear-cutting equipment.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on technical proficiency with cutting tools, broaches, hobs, and precision inspection gauges. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for upholding strict quality standards, managing calibration schedules, minimizing scrap/rework, and leading root cause analysis for internal and external non-conformances.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection & Metrology

  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection of cutting tools, broaches, hobs, gear-cutting tools, and precision components.

  • Ensure accurate verification of tool profiles, rake angles, lead pitch, surface finish, and tight mechanical tolerances using specialized measuring instruments and gauges.

  • Manage calibration programs for all gauges (plug, ring, thread, spline), micrometers, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

Team Leadership & Process Control

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of quality inspectors and technicians on the shop floor.

  • Establish standard inspection procedures, control plans, and quality checklists for various tooling lines.

  • Monitor key quality metrics (PPM, scrap rate, internal rejection rate) and implement corrective measures to drive continuous improvement.

Non-Conformance & Defect Analysis

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone methodologies for internal non-conformances and customer returns.

  • Formulate and implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) to eliminate recurring production and dimensional defects.

  • Coordinate with production and engineering departments to resolve shop-floor quality bottlenecks in real-time.

Audit & Compliance

  • Maintain comprehensive quality documentation and inspection logs in compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.

  • Participate in internal quality audits and customer quality audits, serving as the technical quality representative.

Required Knowledge & Skills

Technical Competencies

  • Tooling & Gauge Expertise: In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, broaches (pull/push/spline), gear hobbing tools, and functional inspection gauges (plug, ring, profile).

  • Measurement & Metrology: Hands-on expertise using profile projectors, toolmakers' microscopes, surface roughness testers, Vernier height gauges, and CMMs.

  • Core Quality Tools: Strong command over Quality Core Tools—SPC (Statistical Process Control), MSA (Measurement System Analysis), FMEA, APQP, and PPAP.

  • Blueprint Reading: Advanced capability to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and tool geometry specifications.

Leadership & Operational Skills

  • Strong leadership, task assignment, and conflict-resolution skills for shop-floor management.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities under production deadlines.

  • Proficient in quality reporting tools (MS Office / ERP systems).

  • Effective communication skills in Marathi, Hindi, and English.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 4–6 years of hands-on quality control/quality assurance experience in a cutting tool manufacturing plant, precision machine shop, or auto-component manufacturing facility.

  • Education: Diploma or Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering.

  • Location: Candidates residing in or willing to relocate to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
