JOB DESCRIPTION (JD)

Position: Shift Incharge – Production (Foundry)
Company: Munjal Group
Department: Production – Foundry
Location: As per Plant Requirement
Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head

1. Job Objective

To manage and control shift-wise foundry production activities, ensuring achievement of production targets with optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials and resources while maintaining quality, safety and productivity standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complete shift production activities in the foundry as per production plan.
  • Achieve daily/shift production targets while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Monitor and control melting, moulding, core making, pouring, fettling and finishing operations.
  • Ensure proper control of furnace parameters, metal temperature, chemical composition and pouring practices.
  • Monitor mould/core quality and coordinate with Quality for rejection and defect control.
  • Analyse and reduce major casting defects such as blow holes, shrinkage, cold shut, misrun, inclusions, sand defects and dimensional defects.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, consumables and raw materials.
  • Monitor rejection, rework, productivity, OEE and process losses.
  • Conduct shift-start meetings and allocate manpower according to production requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, process parameters and control plans.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Stores and PPC for smooth production.
  • Identify machine/process abnormalities and coordinate with Maintenance for quick breakdown resolution.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S across the foundry shop floor.
  • Follow all EHS and safety requirements, including PPE, furnace safety and safe material handling.
  • Maintain shift-wise production reports, rejection reports, downtime reports and other required MIS.
  • Take corrective and preventive actions for recurring production and quality problems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for productivity, quality, cost reduction and cycle-time improvement.
  • Train and guide operators and workmen on process, quality and safety requirements.
