About the Opportunity

Orbit Global HR Consultants LLP, a leading manufacturing recruitment agency in India, is hiring an experienced Plant Head for a well-established manufacturer of Industrial & Automotive MRO Aerosols and specialty chemical preparations.

The company has been operational since 1989 and recorded a turnover of approximately ₹60 Crore in the previous year. Its manufacturing facility is located at Asauda, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, with a current factory workforce of approximately 80–90 employees, including around 70 blue-collar workers.

The Plant Head will have overall responsibility for improving plant productivity, manufacturing efficiency, workforce utilization, maintenance, safety, quality, stores, dispatch and logistics, while ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations & Manufacturing

  • Take overall responsibility for day-to-day plant operations and manufacturing activities.
  • Improve production productivity, efficiency and capacity utilization.
  • Introduce and optimize shift operations based on production requirements.
  • Establish production planning and execution systems.
  • Monitor production targets, output, rejection, downtime and operational efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement across plant operations.

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

  • Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maximum availability and reliability of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Reduce machine downtime and improve equipment utilization.
  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams for timely repairs and upgrades.

Quality Management

  • Ensure adherence to established quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
  • Work closely with QA/QC teams to minimize rejection, rework and customer complaints.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and process controls.

Safety, EHS & Regulatory Compliance

The Plant Head must have strong knowledge of factory and industrial compliance requirements, particularly in relation to hazardous and chemical manufacturing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act and factory regulations.
  • Manage Pollution Control Board requirements and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable PESO requirements.
  • Implement workplace health and safety systems.
  • Monitor hazardous material handling and storage.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and compliance requirements.
  • Promote a strong EHS culture across the plant.

Stores, Dispatch & Logistics

  • Oversee stores and inventory management.
  • Ensure availability of raw materials, packaging materials and other production requirements.
  • Improve inventory control and material movement.
  • Coordinate finished goods dispatch and logistics.
  • Ensure timely and accurate order execution.
  • Work with procurement, stores, production and logistics teams to improve supply-chain efficiency.

Team & Workforce Management

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional plant team of approximately 80–90 employees.
  • Effectively manage blue-collar workforce and supervisors.
  • Develop workforce productivity and accountability.
  • Coordinate with HR on manpower planning, recruitment, training and employee discipline.
  • Establish performance-oriented systems across plant functions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
  • Improve manpower productivity, machine utilization and material efficiency.
  • Develop measurable KPIs for plant operations.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Educational Qualifications

Required

Candidates should possess one of the following:

Engineering / Technology

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering
  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • B.E. / B.Tech in Production Engineering
  • B.E. / B.Tech in Industrial Engineering

Science

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry
  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications will be advantageous:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods Management
  • ISO 9001 Auditor
  • ISO 14001 Auditor
  • ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 Auditor

Required Experience

Total Experience

15–22+ years of experience in manufacturing plant operations.

Industry Experience

Candidates should have 8–10+ years of relevant experience in senior manufacturing / operations roles within one or more of the following industries:

  • Aerosol Manufacturing
  • Industrial Aerosols
  • Automotive MRO Aerosols
  • Specialty Chemicals
  • Cosmetics / Personal Care
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Paints & Coatings
  • Chemical Filling / Formulation

Leadership Experience

Minimum 5+ years in positions such as:

  • Plant Head
  • Factory Head
  • Factory Manager
  • Plant Manager
  • Operations Head
  • Manufacturing Head
  • Unit Head

The candidate should have experience managing multiple functions including:

Production | Operations | QA/QC | EHS/Safety | Maintenance | Stores | Supply Chain | Dispatch | Logistics | HR
